John Goodyear, Director
John is a resident of Vietnam and currently divides his time between Australia and Vietnam working as a Director on VDHG projects, as Chairman of IIBC Limited, a company providing advisory and operational assistance to foreign invested enterprises and as a Director of Air Energi Vietnam Limited, an affiliate of the Air Energi Group Limited which provides human capital solutions to the oil & gas and IT industries.
John has 35 years business experience and has been involved in business in Asia since 1990. This has involved holding the position of Director in an investment bank and working on major projects and structured financing, predominantly in Thailand and Vietnam.
John has experience in the food and retail industry, hotel investment and operations, property investment and in a human resource company providing outplacement and career management consultancy. He has been involved in a number of start-up operations entering new markets and has worked with corporations undergoing change and restructuring.
Prior to working in Asia, John was a lawyer in Australia for more than 20 years with Phillips Fox, a major Australian law firm, where he was a Partner for 18 years and for 5 years held the position of Managing Partner of the Sydney Office and served on the National Board for 3 years.

David Meredith, Director
David is a born and bred Tasmanian. After developing his marketing skills working with Australia’s then largest advertising agency, George Patterson he traveled extensively spending time working and living in New York before returning to Sydney to become a partner in a fashion and retail communications agency, WB Lawrence from where he returned to George Patterson to lead some of the large consumer goods accounts.
In 1984 he transferred to Hong Kong to help lead the expansion of the agency’s Asian operations and from that base developed regional marketing programmes for clients as diverse as Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Eveready, Mars, DeBeers, DHL and Colgate.
In the early 90’s he moved between London and Tokyo, in London leading the Bates regional business for Mars, then returning to Tokyo via Singapore to expand the business operations in Japan and Korea.
He currently serves on the Bates regional board and is a board member of several companies including NextDoor a spa and lifestyle operator in Japan, Laurasian, a not for profit education company, and Luxe a marketing company dedicated to publishing and marketing programmes to high end consumers. |
